Gate45: An Administrative Brokerage Platform for Market Awareness

Gate45 is an administrative platform built for brokerage employees who manage trading activity. It’s designed to help brokers monitor and analyze infrastructure, trading flows, and user activity. It consolidates data from multiple trading servers into a single interface and helps brokers respond quickly to deviations and market events.

Gate45 emerged in response to demand for a monitoring tool that allows users to manage several trading servers in a single interface. It allows tracking of servers’ technical status, market anomalies, and end-user behavior.

One of the tasks that Gate45 tackles is combating manipulation—experienced traders may try to exploit quote discrepancies across servers, and the system is designed to detect such cases quickly. Ultimately, Gate45 helps brokerages increase revenue and keep risks in check.

Design approach

We designed Gate45 as a professional-grade tool with high data density, clear visual hierarchy, and immediate responsiveness. A dark theme reduces eye strain during extended use.

The visual language is based on spatial Z-hierarchy: the darkest layer serves as the background, hosting the main navigation. Brighter, shadowed layers are stacked on top, inspired by Material Design’s elevation principle. For example, in the instruments section, the instrument list occupies the middle layer, and selecting an instrument opens its details on the top layer.

The Z-hierarchy inspired layout makes it easy to understand where you are and what to do next.

Quote monitor and alert system

The quote monitor allows administrators to track quote discrepancies across trading servers. We structured it as a grid of cards: each card shows quotes from multiple servers for a specific financial instrument. This enables fast comparisons and anomaly detection.

Two anomalies are visible here: in the GBPUSD card, one server named SR4 Real 2 hasn’t responded for 21 seconds; in USDJPY, SR4 Real 2 has been silent for 138 seconds, so the highlight signals a confirmed issue.

When a delay or mismatch is detected, alerts are triggered. The top interface bar changes color, with one state for suspected issues and a second, stronger state for confirmed problems.

We also extended alerts to browser tabs: a flashing favicon and color-coded priority indicators surface critical events even when users switch windows. When all is normal, the tab shows P&L. When alerts occur, the icon changes to reflect severity.

The alerts section lists all system events chronologically. Active and unresolved alerts are highlighted. The list is easy to scan and filter, helping users respond quickly to key incidents.

Exposure visualization

The exposure section helps operations teams see the current level of risk that the brokerage is taking on. We structured the screen around financial instruments and currencies.

The tables with instruments and currencies include a Net column with micro-indicators showing volume levels—mini-bars under cells signal when a value nears 100%. Table headers are fixed, so column names remain visible during scrolling.

The Net column surfaces only meaningful values through threshold-based dimming and highlighting. Across the table, monospaced numerals ensure clean alignment for easier scanning.
When volume approaches critical levels, the micro-indicators in the Net column become visually prominent.
Fixed headers provide constant context when navigating wide, scrollable tables, which is especially handy in high-density financial views.

Order book and market forecasting

The order book interface reflects the specifics of forex trading. Each quote level is visualized with micro-infographics, i.e., horizontal bars representing order volume. This helps users quickly grasp the order structure.

The micro-infographics make order composition clear: the 1.14077 price point consists of several orders with varying volumes, and users can instantly see how they compare. This is especially useful when assessing liquidity or the potential impact of large participants.

Additionally, this section includes a market forecasting tool that models price movements and shows how the order book would react. It helps administrators understand trading dynamics and identify system vulnerabilities.

In the mobile interface, we preserved the same data clarity: micro-infographics scale responsively, and the layout adapts to smaller screens without losing informational depth.

Positions and aggregated metrics

The positions section displays a large table of all open positions. To simplify work with large data sets, we added filters by account, symbol, side, and transaction ID.

Below the table is a fixed summary panel with key metrics: total positions, total volume, deposits, and withdrawals. This panel is always visible and updates in real time, enabling quick assessments and timely responses.

Pinned to the bottom edge, the metrics panel helps administrators stay focused on the big picture—total positions, buy/sell counts, deposit trends, and outgoing funds.

Working with trader accounts

The accounts section gives administrators access to information about individual traders. It includes a quick search by username and server.

Clicking an account opens a detailed card on the right, containing four sections: general info, pending orders, open positions, and balance operations history.

Each account view includes basic details, pending orders, open positions, and balance history. Orders and positions can be closed directly from this screen.

Conclusion

Gate45 is a tool that helps brokerage firms monitor trading stability and analyze key metrics in real time. It brings together data from multiple trading servers into a unified interface, with a visual system that enhances clarity and allows for flexible responses to deviations.

Throughout the interface, we aimed for clear semantic separation, graphic cleanliness, and a visual language that supports focus instead of distracting from it.
